Lucy vs FRIHETEN: a correction.
Updated October 6, 2026. We previously recommended a “Joybird Lucy Performance Sleeper Sofa.” We could not verify that model in Joybird’s current catalog, so we have withdrawn its recommendation, scores, specifications, and purchase link.

FRIHETEN is a verifiable IKEA sleeper sectional with bedding storage. It has fixed upholstery, so choose it with a realistic spot-cleaning and repair plan. Its residential warranty should not be treated as rental-use coverage.
Before buying a sleeper for a rental
- Measure the delivery route and the fully opened bed. Keep the exit path clear; check permitted occupancy before advertising additional guests.
- Try both sitting and sleeping. Match sheets to the actual sleeping surface; check topper compatibility, storage, and closing instructions.
- Ask for the fabric cleaning code, spare-cover availability, and replacement mechanism or mattress lead times. A zipper does not prove a cover is washable.
- Confirm hospitality use and warranty coverage in writing for the exact model. Joybird’s published warranty excludes hospitality and commercial use; IKEA’s general US warranty excludes non-domestic use unless otherwise stated.
- Give guests a short illustrated conversion guide. Have the cleaner open, inspect, and close the bed at turnover; plan what happens if it fails before check-in.
